This Academy Award-winning film, set in 1984 East Germany, is the story of a society in which State Security aims to “know everything” — and of one watcher who found himself being changed by the lives of those he watched. You can watch a trailer at Yahoo. More information is available on the Internet Movie Database and on the film's own site.

Frank Fechner, MD will be our guest speaker for the evening. Frank was born and lived in East Berlin until he escaped East Germany just a few months before the Wall fell. In 1984, Frank served in the East German army. He will discuss the accuracy and impact of the film, as well as what it was like to live “behind the iron curtain.”

Please join us for this fascinating evening filled with discussion and insight into an important era of political history.
