dc-o ere details of the GFS premiere screening that went out on our Members mailing list.

The Groton Film Society will screen “The World’s Fastest Indian” at Lawrence Academy on Saturday December 1. Here are some details and a word of thanks to those who have made it possible.

The festivities get under way with a catered reception at 7:00 pm in the Williams Arts Center on the LA campus. Here is an overall map of the location:

And here is a more detailed map of the LA campus showing the buildings:

We will gather in the Gray Building, Williams Arts Center, number 12 on the campus map. Please park in the lots indicated in light red on this aerial photo:

Lawrence Academy asks that we not park on Powderhouse Road.

We will have your membership cards and your bonus guest passes at the front door. (Remember, those of you who signed up before Nov. 15 get guest passes -- 2 for an individual membership, 4 for a couple -- so if you want to bring guests to the premiere, by all means do so. But please let us know how many to expect; RSVP to [email protected])

The venue for the screening is the 100-seat Recital Hall. We should have plenty of room for paid-up members and their invited guests. In addition we hope to be able to accommodate some number of walk-up guests who purchase a one-day membership at the door.

The Evening

We will have almost an hour in LA's MacNeil Lounge to mingle, get acquainted, and enjoy the wonderful hors d'oeuvres provided by GFS's catering partner, Andrea Mason of Dinner Is Served:

During the reception we will introduce the members of the GFS founding committee, say a few words about those who helped move GFS forward, and discuss plans for the evolution of GFS. At 7:45 PM we will head downstairs to Recital Hall for the screening, which will be preceded by a short talk about the film.

Following the screening (the film runs 2 hours and 7 minutes), we will enjoy coffee and Italian cookies and discus the film in the Recital Hall.

Thank You

We at the founding committee of the GFS want to thank you all for your support of this enhanced cultural option in Groton. We especially wish to thank our Founding Members: Ed and Kate McNierney

and our Supporting Members: David and Suzanne Sinnery

This first screening is sponsored by Lawrence Academy (with thanks to Susan Hughes) and Andrea Mason's Dinner Is Served.

See you on Saturday Dec. 1!
